About Me

Kathleen V. Polanco

From the land of 10,000 lakes, Minnesota, Kathleen is a visual storyteller temporarily living in infamously snowy Syracuse, New York. She got her start shooting multinational military training exercises in Europe, where she was stationed with the 7th Army Training Command in Grafenwoehr, Germany.

She has served in the U.S. Army for the past nine years and is currently assigned to study visual information at Syracuse University. She has been stationed all over the United States to include Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington and Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where she calls her home. She’s also deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom XI-XII.

During her two-year assignment in Germany, Kathleen traveled to over nine different countries to take beautiful landscape photos to inspire her family to get out of Minnesota to see what else the world has to offer. Even though she had a blast stuffing her face with crepes in France and soaking up the sun rays in Greece, she semi-regrets not taking more photos of the elements she enjoyed.

Kathleen enjoys creating emotive portraits and capturing beautiful moments of everyday life. Although she uses her nieces to awkwardly pose for creative projects, much of her photography incorporates people who don’t generally model.
